It contained 2 tracks that had only just been released for the first time on the 5 CD set 'Bassey'. A striking black and white folded insert with a 1960's photo of Shirley on the front. Issued in a jewel case it looks very classy. Released in 1997 it contained tracks from the Columbia and United Artists recordings. Track 2 on CD1 is listed as 'Love' but is in fact 'One less bell to answer'. The song 'I've got you under my skin' was the 1978 UA version which at the time was new to CD as the original 1959 Columbia version was the one usually used. The CD itself is gold coloured.    K.point gold 1621.1002-2 CZECH REPUBLIC 1994 All by myself More Music released this 14 track compilation CD in 1995. Containing the full Applause label's 'All by myself' album tracks it also includes 4 songs from the 'Keep the music playing' album. It has never been released before or since. A collector's item for that track alone. Really nice sleeve photo of Shirley from the '70s.   EMI 2 CD set 50999 7237422 1 NETHERLANDS 2012 An introduction to presents Shirley Bassey A 2006 15 track compilation released in America on the Fuel label. Sticker states 'Extensive liner notes' but a folded insert with 2 1/2 sides of notes is not 'extensive'! Nothing special at all about this release. Typo in track listing: 'The power of life' instead of 'The power of love'.     FUEL Factory sealed 302 061 586 2 USA 2006 And I love you so Shirley's 1972 album was digitally remastered and 2 bonus tracks added in this 2000 release from EMI. The bonus tracks were recorded at the same session as the album but were not included on the original vinyl release. Containing 4 tracks - 'Born to sing the blues' is omitted - it is of the Philips vinyl EP release from the 1950s with the same title. They have used the original artwork. Once again expensive for just 4 tracks and is really aimed at the collector.    Vintage music Factory sealed Vintage vocal jazz/Swing No: 95 2010 At the Pigalle / At the Talk of the Town Beautifully digitally remastered 2 CD re-issue of 2 early live albums released by BGO Records in 2008. Presented in a slip case and includes a booklet with new liner notes and photos. The quality of this set is exceptional. A true collector's item. This was only available for a very limited time as Shirley had the Icon release withdrawn from sale after a lawsuit against the producer and therefore copies of this CD also had to be withdrawn from the stores. Repackaged with a new photo and a picture disc but otherwise it is exactly the same. The photo is from the 1960s and was used originally for the UA vinyl album 'This is my life'.     EMI (MFP) 7243 8 35619 2 6 UK 1997 Best of Shirley Bassey, The Released by EMI /Capital Music Special Markets in their 'Ten Best Series'. Issued in America in 1999 and is a 10 track compilation CD. They chose to use photos from the very late 50's on both front and the back inlays. It is just a single card insert with the sleeve photo on the front and left blank on the reverse. The CD is gold. It actually looks a clean and classy presentation. Released in 2001 on the Eurotrend label it's a reissue of Freestyle's 'Keep the music playing' album.      Euro trend CD 152.725 GERMANY 2001 Best of Shirley Bassey, The This American release of 10 tracks certainly is not a 'Priceless Collection'! Manufactured by EMI Music Special Markets it was issued in 2003 on the Collectables label. Subtitled 'The best of ...' it isn't even that. A budget CD but nothing special.     EMI Factory sealed COL-CD-9367 USA 2003 Best of Shirley Bassey, The A 14 track CD from South Africa released on a budget label. It's the complete 'All By Myself' album plus 4 tracks from the 'Keep The Music Playing' album. Nicely presented and issued in 2004. Not really the best of Shirley Bassey!     Risa RTBCD 2114 SOUTH AFRICA 2004 Best selection An 18 track compilation of EMI recordings issued on the Japanese minor label Jasrac. It comes with an obi. Only a single card inlay with a photo of a car on the front. Usually Japanese CDs have inserts with a bio and lyrics of the songs but this release does not.     Jasrac VC-3008 JAPAN 1988 Best selection Exactly the same as the above and on the same label with same catalogue number. Different sleeve (picture of roses) and comes with a different obi. As with the above CD there is no photo of Shirley on it at all and no year of release. No insert with bio or lyrics included in this one either.     Jasrac VC-3008 JAPAN No year issued Beste van Shirley Bassey, Het From the Netherlands on the Eva label in 1990 it is from the 'Wereldsterren' series. Containing 18 tracks from the Columbia and United Artists labels it is a beautifully presented CD. It has a folded insert which has liner notes in Dutch and also shows other CDs available in the series.     EVA 7941562 NETHERLANDS 1990 Beste van Shirley Bassey, Het Again from the Netherlands and using the same title as the previous CD this is on the EMI label from 2003. Containing 21 tracks mainly from Columbia/United Artists labels, there are 4 tracks not associated with EMI. The track 'Thought I'd ring you' is unfortunately an edited version. It includes a booklet with the title embossed in gold on the front and the tracks listed and the liner notes are in Dutch. It is a gold coloured picture disc.   EMI 7243 5824992 7 NETHERLANDS 2003 Beste van Shirley Bassey, Het Exactly the same as the previous CD but the title on the booklet is only printed and not embossed and the printing on the back inlay is in a different colour. One track 'Fire Down Below' has been omitted. It is a picture disc and has a slightly different insert.      DRG 91453 CANADA 1997 Birthday concert, The Released 1997 on the Artful label this is an edited edition of two concerts Shirley did to celebrate her 60th Birthday. One concert was held at Castle Howard, Yorkshire and the other Althorp in Northamptonshire and the home of the late Diana Princess of Wales. Issued sortly after her death a donation from the sale of the CD went to her memorial fund. The CD did not feature the full concert(s) but certain songs from each edited together.   Artful Records ARTFUL CD 10 UK 1997 Blues in the night A 14 track compilation from Germany on the Spectrum label. Released in 1998 it all the recordings are from the Philip's label. Contains 16 tracks from the Philips label all of which are out of copyright. Available from Amazon.com it is rather expensive at around $16.00 plus postage. No sleeve notes just a folded inlay with a black/white photograph of Shirley on the front.    Record jet Factory sealed 000201001145 GERMANY 2012 Bond Collection, The This 12 track CD was released in 1992 on the Icon label. Recorded some years earlier but never materialised it was issued to cash in on the 30th Anniversary of James Bond films. Shirley was not happy about it and went to court to have it withdrawn saying it was demo and not suitable for general release. Very nicely presented in a slipcase.     Fantastic voyage 2 CD set Slipcase FVDD003 UK 2009 Classic icons A 2CD set released in 2010 by EMI which has one CD by Shirley and one by Helen Shapiro. The track listing section only shows the 20 on Shirley's CD. Nothing unusual in the songs selected for this release. Originally made exclusively for the Sainsbury Supermarket Group it is now available through other retail outlets.    EMI Gold Factory sealed 2 CD set 50999 6 48100 2 7 UK 2010 Classic Tracks The only CD to be released on the Philips label in the UK this was issued in 1993. Containing 23 tracks from her days with the label fans were pleased to have an official CD from Philips but disappointed at only 23 songs. They wanted a double CD set with all her recordings from that time. Even so it is a nice set. Strange they chose to use a 60s photo instead of an earlier one to tie up with the period of the songs.   Philips 514 347-2 UK 1993 Classics 2 CD set released on the Artful label in 2000 and is a reissue of the 'Diamond Collection' issued on the same label in 1998. Totally repackaged with different sleeve design and includes a folded insert but no liner notes. The photos of Shirley's face are silver in colour on the front, back inlay and on the folded insert. (It's the Birthday Concert from 1997)   Artful Records Artful CD33 UK 2000 Classics Exactly the same in every detail as the above issue but the photos are a metallic purple.
